Weekend planner: Arbor Day event, booya bash this weekend

Activities this weekend in south Washington County range from Arbor Day in Cottage Grove to a booya bash in St. Paul Park, with a variety of church and sports benefits mostly based on food. The first-ever Woodbury Community Expo, an activity designed to introduce more than 100 area businesses and nonprofit organizations to families, will take place at the Bielenberg Sports Center.

The CGAA 13 AAA boys baseball team is holding a flapjack fundraiser breakfastat Applebee's in Cottage Grove from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 24. The cost is $6 per person with proceeds going towards tournament costs.

Members of Newport Masonic Lodge 118 will serve their annual spaghetti dinnerfrom 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, at the Masonic Center, 644 Broadway Ave. in St. Paul Park.

The Men's Club at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 8694 80th St. in Cottage Grove is hosting a spaghetti dinnerfrom 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 24.

Cooks at American Legion Post 98 and the 40/8 Voyageur 33 unit will be serving their award winning booya on Sunday, April 25, starting at 11 a.m. until it's gone at the Legion hall, 328 Broadway Ave. in St. Paul Park. There will also be meat raffles and a craft and bake sale.

Members of the East Ridge High School U14 girls traveling soccer team will be selling grilled brats, hamburgers and hot dogs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 25 at the Von Hanson's Meats parking lot, 9040 Inwood Ave. in Cottage Grove. All are welcome.

East Ridge High School's Link Crew is hosting a fundraiserat American Burger, located at 7455 Currell Blvd., near Target and Dairy Queen in Woodbury, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27.
