This past year, East Ridge's 400-meter relay team took fourth place overall, while then-sophomore Nate Roese earned second place in the 400-meter dash and 2011 grad Connor Lyons placed eighth in the 200-meter dash -- giving all the state-entrant Raptors medals in 2011.

At the state meet, teams are awarded points and All-State honors for finishing in the top nine places in each event. A first place finish garners 12 points, second place gets 10 points, third place earns eight points, and so on. The ninth place finisher earns one point.

East Ridge finished 22nd overall, with 18 points, out of the 60 teams that scored points at the state meet. With 47 points, Stillwater won the state championship, followed by runner-up Wayzata with 43 points.

Individually, Roese's second-place finish was the highest by any Raptor at the state meet. In the 400-meter dash, Roese earned second place with a time of 49.07 in the finals. In the 400-meter relay, East Ridge's Ezekiel Okeleye, Lyons, Val Huerta and Dayo Ogundepo earned fourth place with a time of 43.08 in the finals. The Raptors had their fastest time ever in the event in the preliminaries of the race, earning second place in 42.95 seconds. In addition, Lyons also earned All-State in the 200-meter dash, taking eighth place in the state meet with a time of 22.98 in the finals.
