Wind gusts upward of 10 miles per hour caused the scaffolding at the construction site of the future G-Will Liquors store in Cottage Grove to come crashing down Thursday.

Cottage Grove police officer Dan Schoen said the incident happened between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., when the wind in the area had begun to pick up.

No one was injured, Schoen said, as crews were not on the job site because of the recent cold weather.

Construction representatives said insurance adjusters were expected on the site, located on the corner of Hadley Avenue and 80th Street, sometime Thursday afternoon.

Crews broke ground on the site in early November and began installing brickwork and scaffolding in recent weeks.

"We should be back to work Friday," a crew member said.

Construction on the 12,500-square-foot store, located on a 1.64-acre parcel directly across from the existing G-Will Liquors, is expected to be finished later this year. It will anchor a multi-use retail development tentatively named Norris Marketplace.
