Weekend planner: Relay for Life, Explore Your Parks day this weekend
Two events top the list of things to do this weekend in south Washington County: a major fundraiser and a fun day at the park.
The 2010 American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of South Washington County opens to visitors, walkers and family members at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the East Ridge High School track, near the intersection of Radio Drive and Hargis Parkway in Woodbury. Whether you're walking or watching, everyone is invited to attend for a portion of the 12-hour Relay to cheer for cancer survivors and to remember those who have died as a result of cancer.
In addition to walkers, there will be food, games, crafts and exhibits for visitors.
On Saturday, June 5, Washington County will throw open the gates for "Explore Your Parks Day. Activities for children and adults will take place at Lake Elmo Park Reserve and other area parks. For details, call (651) 430-8240 or go to www.co.washington.mn.us/parks.
On Sunday, home gardeners can buy plants and have their yard and garden questions answered for free at a plant sale and diagnostic clinic hosted by University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners on Sunday, June 6, at the 4-H Building at the county fairgrounds. The diagnostic clinic will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the plant sale from noon to 3 p.m.
The Washington County Fairgrounds are located at Highway 5 and Manning Ave., in Lake Elmo.
