FRIDAY, SEPT. 11
MOVIE IN THE PARK -- The St. Paul Park Park and Rec Commission is hosting a free family-style Movie in the Park, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, at Veteran's Park, between Fourth and Fifth streets, north of Broadway Ave. The evening will begin with a brief 9/11 memorial ceremony by members of American Legion Post 98. Snacks will be available for purchase.
NEWPORT MEAT RAFFLE -- The Newport Fire Department will hold its annual meat raffle from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the Clover Leaf Bar and Grill, 2146 Hastings Ave., in Newport. Proceeds from the event will support equipment purchases.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 12
FIRST PERFORMANCE AT LOFT STAGE -- The Woodbury Community Theatre will present "The Best of Gilbert & Sullivan" and "Trial By Jury" at the new Loft Stage at East Ridge High School in Woodbury at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, with a pre-show stage dedication ceremony and reception beginning at 6 p.m. and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.

FALL FEST AT ST. ANDREW'S -- St. Andrew's Lutheran School, 1000 Portland Ave., in St. Paul Park, invites friends and neighbors to its first fall festival, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. Activities will include games, food, bake and plant sale and silent auction.
ZION'S SUPER SALE -- Zion Lutheran Church's 28th annual Super Sale is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 12, at the church, 8500 Hillside Trail, in Cottage Grove. Everything from furniture to cosmetics, electronics, homemade baked goods, arts and crafts will be available for shoppers.
BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL -- The eighth annual Washington County Bluegrass Festival will be held from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Lake Elmo Park Reserve. This year's festival will feature three bluegrass bands "Pickin' Up Steam," at 2:30 p.m.; "Monroe Crossing" at 3:30 p.m.; and "Pert' Near Sandstone" at 5:30 p.m. Lake Elmo Park Reserve is located at the intersection of County Roads 19 and 10, one mile north of Interstate 94) in Lake Elmo.
WOODRIDGE HIKE -- Cottage Grove fitness trainer Annie Elmer will lead a hike at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Woodridge Park, 9000 90th St., in Cottage Grove. All are invited to attend. Children, 12 and younger, must have adult supervision. The hike will be canceled only if there are storm warnings or a threat of lightning. SUNDAY, SEPT. 13
BOOYA, CRAFTS AT LEGION -- American Legion Post 98 cooks will be serving their award-winning booya beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Legion Hall, 328 Broadway Ave., in St. Paul Park. The cost is $3 per bowl. After lunch, guests are invited to stop by the Women's Auxiliary craft and bake sale.
125th ANNIVERSARY -- In celebration of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church's 125th anniversary, past and present parishioners, former pastors, staff members and friends and neighbors are invited to Mass at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, to be followed by a pancake breakfast. The church is located at 920 Holley Ave., in St. Paul Park.
NEW RAINGARDEN -- Friends and neighbors are invited to help parishioners dedicate the new raingarden All Saints Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Blvd., Cottage Grove, at 10:10 a.m. immediately after worship on Sunday, Sept. 13. Angie Hong, an educator for the East Metro Water Resource Education Program, will be the guest speaker. Hong will give an overview of how raingardens work to collect and filter rainwater and what resources are available to help homeowners install their own raingardens.
SUNDGAARD ON CLIMATE -- KARE 11 meteorologist Sven Sundgaard will speak at the Sunday, Sept. 13 meeting of the Sons of Norway Hjemkomst Lodge 599, which serves residents of Cottage Grove and Hastings. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 400 West Ninth St., in Hastings. Sundgaard will give a Power Point presentation comparing the climates of Norway and Minnesota. A social hour will follow. All nationalities are welcome to attend.
