Weekend planner: Miller family benefit this weekend
SATURDAY, JAN. 24
MILLER FAMILY BENEFIT -- A benefit spaghetti dinner to raise funds for rising medical costs for Reuben Miller, of St. Paul Park, is scheduled from 12 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Activities Building, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park. Activities will include dinner by Tinucci's, music by the Eric Thomas Duo, silent auction, bake sale and beer garden. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 10 years and younger.
BOOT HOCKEY BENEFIT -- A co-ed boot hockey benefit tournament to raise funds for a team in the Twin Cities Breast Cancer 3-Day walk will start at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Park Place Sports Bar, 200 Broadway Ave., St. Paul Park. Organizers are requesting a $10 donation per person; four-on-four teams, each team consisting of two men and two women.
SUNDAY, JAN. 25
ST. ANDREW'S OPEN HOUSE -- Interested families are invited St. Andrew's Lutheran School, 1001 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park, is hosting an open house for parents of students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25. CHILI FEED -- A chili feed is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25 at the American Legion Post 98 Hall, 328 Broadway. The event is hosted by the Women's Auxiliary to raise money to send care boxes to troops serving overseas and its general fund. Homemade baked goods will also be available for purchase.
HOCKEY FEST -- The Cottage Grove Hockey Association Hockey Fest will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena. Everyone is invited to see Mite and Mini-Mite teams demonstrate their skating skills, play chuck-a-puck between games, bid on silent auction items, purchase a raffle ticket and have a dish of walking tacos.
PRESCHOOL READINESS -- Is your child for preschool? District 833 invites parents to an information session that will explain its School Readiness Preschool program, from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at the District Program Center, 8400 East Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove. WEDNESDAY, JAN. 28
FREE HEALTH SEMINAR -- Curves and Family Chiropractic, both of Cottage Grove, are co-sponsoring a free workshop on ways to manage weight, exercise and stress from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Park Grove Branch Library, 7900 Hemingway Ave., Cottage Grove. The program is free and open to all. After the presentation, refreshments will be served.
