Families planning activities this weekend may choose from star watching to an Easter drama, a garage sale, kid/adult fitness morning, the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce Expo at Beilenberg Sports Center, the first ever arts and antique fair at White Bear Lake High School, Hill-Murray's production of "Camp Rock," or Breakfast with the Easter Bunny Sunday at the Red Barn in Cottage Grove.
Join WCCO meteorologist Mike Lynch from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Carpenter Nature Center in Denmark Township, to learn about the stars. The program starts indoors and includes time outside; dress for the weather. The cost is $15 per person, which includes a user-friendly star map, constellation chart maps, a telescope buying guide and more. Reservations are required.
New Life Church of Woodbury will present "Crown Him," an Easter musical drama of God's redeeming love, at 7 p.m. April 15 and 16, with a matinee scheduled at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 17. Reserved tickets may be purchased online at www.newlife4u.org. "Crown Him" is not recommended for children, 5 and younger.
The women of All Saints Lutheran Church are hosting a two-day spring garage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 15 and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 16, at the church 8100 Belden Blvd., across from the Cottage Grove National Guard Armory. More than 100 local area businesses and vendors will hand out information and demonstrate their products at the Woodbury Community Expo, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Bielenberg Sports Center, Radio Drive and Bielenberg Road in Woodbury. Cottage Grove resident and fitness coach Dana Schumacher will lead a free fitness workout for kids, ages 5 to 12, followed by a workout for adults on Saturday, April 16, in the basement of the Alley Church, 7955 Ivystone Ave., in Cottage Grove. The 916 Education Foundation and Maplewood Imports/Maplewood Audi are hosting their first Antiques & Arts Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at White Bear Lake High School, South Campus Cafeteria, 3551 McKnight Road in White Bear Lake.
The fair is open to the public and general admission is free. Local dealers and specialists will evaluate antiques and collectibles at $10 per antique. Additional items will cost $5 each, up to three items total. Coins will be evaluated at $1 per coin, up to 10 coins.
Local artists, crafters and dealers will display and sell handcrafted goods, artwork, vintage goods, collectibles and sports memorabilia.
A professional artist from the White Bear Center for the Arts will provide free cartooning and drawing demonstrations and lessons. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome.
Hill-Murray School in Maplewood will perform Disney's "Camp Rock: The Musical" at 7 p.m. April 14, 15 and 16, and at 2 p.m. on April 17. Families are invited to the Cottage Grove Lions Easter breakfast, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 Red Barn, 9260 East Point Douglas Road in Cottage Grove. The Easter Bunny will greet kids and there will be pancakes, sausage and eggs, a bake sale and raffles. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for kids, under 12. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera and donations for the Friends in Need Food Shelf.
