NEW YEAR'S FAMILY PARTY -- Families are invited to the annual New Year's Eve Celebration, 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Bielenberg Sports Center, 4125 Radio Drive, Woodbury. The event, geared toward families with children under age 12, will include games, a moonwalk, an obstacle course, mini-golf, bingo, open ice skating, live music and an exhibition program by the Woodbury Skating Club. The countdown to 2009 plus drawings for door prizes is scheduled at 8:30 p.m.

The party is limited to 700 people and costs $8 per person (2 years and older) if pre-registered by noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31. At the door, tickets will cost $10. Tickets can be purchased through the Woodbury Parks and Recreation Department at Woodbury City Hall. For details or to register, call the parks and recreation department at (651) 714-3583.

SATURDAY, JAN. 3

FREE WINTER CAMPING PROGRAM --

Fred Boulay, who is a local expert on camping and outdoor activities, will share his knowledge and tricks about winter camping at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the fire-heated Trailhead Ski Shelter at Lake Elmo Park Reserve. Boulay will address topics of winter clothing, equipment, first aid, and snow shelters. A portion of thE program may take place outside, so be prepared by wearing proper clothing and bringing warm liquids.

Lake Elmo Park Reserve is located at the intersection of County Roads 19 and 10, one mile north of Interstate 94, in Lake Elmo. The program is free, and a $5 vehicle fee will be charged at the park entrance.

CHRISTMAS TREE

DISPOSAL -- Used Christmas trees can be dropped off at the Cottage Grove compost siste, 9600 Glendenning Road at the following times and dates:

- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 3 and 10;

- 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, Jan. 4 and 11.

The fee is $1 per tree or free with the donation of a canned food item for the Friends in Need Food Shelf, St. Paul Park. For details, call Rumpca Cos., (652) 459-1556
