WOMEN'S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM -- Newport United Methodist Women invite all area church women to their annual Ecumenical Christmas Program, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the church, 11th Avenue and Glen Road in Newport. This is an evening of sharing music, reading and fellowship that has been celebrated by area churches for nearly 40 years, according to the press release. DOUGHNUT BENEFIT -- Santa Claus, his elves and several Donettes -- all Hunger Helpers -- will sell doughnuts by the dozen for $5 outside four SuperAmerica stores from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 6. All proceeds will benefit the Friends in Need Food Shelf, St. Paul Park. Participating stations are 7162 Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove; 545 Summit Ave., St. Paul Park; 6401 Lake Road Terrace, Woodbury; and 5728 Bishop Ave., Inver Grove Heights. The event is co-sponsored by SuperAmerica, Marathon Petroleum and SuperMom's Bakery.
GOT COOKIES? -- Hundreds of homemade cookies will be sold by the dozen from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Masonic Center, corner of Broadway and Summit avenues, St. Paul Park. Cookies are $4 per dozen. The sale is an annual fundraising event by members of Queen Esther Chapter 26 of the Eastern Star, that supports local and state activities.
PET PHOTOS -- Park Grove Pet Hospital, 7663 79th St., Cottage Grove, will take a photo of your pet with Santa Claus from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 for $5 per sitting. Proceeds from the event will help to care for impounded animals at the pet hospital. For details, call the hospital at (651) 459-9663.
'CHRISTMAS CAROL' AT PARK -- Park High School's theatre program will present Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, at 1 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6; at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7; at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12; and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. TASTE OF CHRISTMAS -- St. Mary's Church-Basswood Grove is hosting its annual Taste of Christmas event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, in Guild Hall, 8435 St. Croix Trail S., Denmark Township. CHRISTMAS SALE AT RED ROCK MANOR -- They had so much fun at their first craft and bake sale, members of the Red Rock Residents Association have decided to do it again. Their Christmas craft and bake sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at 1421 10th Ave., Newport. Everyone is invited to attend.

NEWPORT FOOD, TOY DRIVE -- The Newport Fire Department is holding a food and toy drive for Friends in Need Food Shelf, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at Newport Center, Hastings Avenue. The Clover Leaf Bar and Grill, 2146 Hastings Ave., Newport, is a second drop off point for donations. If you give a gift-wrapped toy, specify gender and age of child to receive it.
AFTERNOON WITH SANTA -- Three community organizations invite families to "Spend an Afternoon with Santa," 12 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Masonic Center, 644 Broadway Ave., St. Paul Park. Holiday activities, snacks and photos with Santa Claus are all free. The event is co-sponsored by Newport Masonic Lode 118, Queen Esther Chapter 26 of the Order of the Eastern Star and Job's Daughters, Bethel 53.
BREAKFAST WITH SANTA -- The Cottage Grove Lions Club is hosting its 23rd annual breakfast with Santa, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 Red Barn, 9260 East Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove. Pictures will be taken with Santa for $3 and there will be homemade baked goods to purchase. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
