At least seven area churches are hosting pig roast benefits, several are having rummage sales and two walks are scheduled -- one for the no-kill animal shelter and one for Gulf coast support.

Live music, an open stage plus roast pork will be available at Newport Lutheran Church from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Proceeds will benefit the Leukemia Society of Minnesota.
A Gulf shore relief carnival is scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Globe University, 8089 Globe Drive in Woodbury.
