On Friday, Jan. 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. Carpenter Nature Center in Denmark Township will host a preschool story time about animals in winter for preschoolers.

Longtime St. Paul Park painter Mary Larson will display her latest worksfrom 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, at St. Paul Park City Hall, 600 Portland Ave. All are invited and refreshments will be served.

The Park High School basketball program is hosting its annual Cottage Grove Athletic Association night, at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15 as the Wolfpack boys host on Suburban East Conference foe Stillwater. Kids who wear their CGAA jersey get in free.

The pond at Highlands Park, at 70th Street and Idsen Ave., in Cottage Grove, will be cleared of snow and ready for skaters from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the city's second annual Skate Night.

Members of the Cottage Grove Athletic Association U15 girls soccer team will serve a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill on East Point Douglas Road, in Cottage Grove

Super heroes -- elementary-age boys -- and their moms are invited to a super party from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Woodbury High School Activity Center, 2665 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury.

The St. Paul Park Park and Rec Commission along with city firefighters are co-sponsoring a sledding party on the hill at city hall, from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17.

Historian Wayne Boyd will show photos and tell the story of Point Douglas, the lumbering town that thrived in the 1800s and became a ghost town by 1904, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church Guild Hall, 8435 S. St. Croix Trail, in Denmark Township. Everyone is invited to attend.

Carpenter Nature Center in Denmark Township will host an informational meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, for people interested in volunteering as a visitor greeter, naturalist assistant, or helping to care for program animals.
