Authorities suspect Timothy Michael Pease, 28, drove his snowmobile into open water Friday evening near the Windmill Marina in Afton.

Pease's body has not yet been found, but his snowmobile and a helmet were located. The Washington County Sheriff's Office on Monday suspended its search for Pease due to weather. The search may not resume.

Pease's sister-in-law, Melissa Pease, described him as someone who was happy with where he was in life, an expectant father who was always willing to help out a friend in need.

The 2000 Park High School graduate grew up in Cottage Grove, and had recently moved to Lakeland. He was working for Rumpca Companies in St. Paul Park.

"He had a passion for heavy machinery like trucks, tractors, bulldozers, things like that, even as a little kid," she said. "He would literally do anything for anybody; He would give you his last dollar or the shirt off his back if you needed it."

He enjoyed fishing, going to the family's cabin and spending time with his yellow lab, she said.

"He had an infectious smile, and was always very happy," she said. "He was full of life."

Relatives plan a memorial gathering from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Cottage Grove.

After the service, a celebration of Pease's life will take place at the Cottage Grove VFW Red Barn.
