Students collect socks for troops

Students at Cottage Grove Middle School collected white socks to donate to troops serving overseas.

The drive, Operation White Socks, is a national program run by Soldier's Angels, a volunteer-led 501(C)(3) organization which has helped support our service personnel since 2003.

In just over 10 days, students collected more than 1,200 pairs of socks. The Cottage Grove VFW will pay the postage to ship socks to troops.

The first hour team math class, taught by Laura Kerman and Leanne Clouse, contributed the largest number of socks. They will celebrate with a juice/doughnut breakfast.
