Kathy Rustin-Westphal will be known as Kate this year.

The St. Paul Park woman was picked as Klondike Kate for the 2014 St. Paul Winter Carnival.

Rustin-Westphal earned the title Wednesday following a competition that involves singing and performing. Rustin-Westphal sought the title in 2012 and again last year, when she was among three finalists.

Klondike Kate, named after a lively Old West lounge singer, joins the Winter Carnival royalty for festival activities and participates in parades and events throughout the year.

Rustin-Westphal is a Cottage Grove native and went to Park High School.

The St. Paul Winter Carnival runs Jan. 23-Feb. 2.
