St. Paul Park shop thwarts armed robbery attempt
A man attempted to rob the Ashland Ave. Grocery, 1000 Ashland Ave. in St. Paul Park at 1:21 p.m. Monday.
According to St. Paul Park Police, the suspect threatened the clerk with what appeared to be a weapon in a paper bag. The clerk pointed his own weapon at the robber and the robber fled on foot without taking anything. Police were called and attempted to follow the robber without success.
According to the report, the robber was a short, black man wearing blue jeans, white athletic shoes, a ski mask and a black hooded jacket with a label on the back at the neckline and possibly a light-colored tag on the right side at the bottom, directly under the arm.
