St. Paul Park property tax levy could go up 3 percent
St. Paul Park City Council members last week certified a $1.8 million preliminary property tax levy that represents a roughly 3 percent increase over 2012.
The levy is part of a $2.5 million general fund budget that, if approved in December as is, would slightly decrease operating expenditures form 2012.
City Administrator Kevin Walsh said the increases are due to debt payments for road projects completed in 2010 and 2011 as well as a project that fixed a damaged City Hall roof earlier this year.
Major expenditures proposed in the 2013 budget include and nearly $1 million project that will perform maintenance and repaint a water tower and $30,000 in park improvements.
