St. Paul Park police reports for July 11
Recently reported criminal activity in St. Paul Park:
Police received a report May 29 of graffiti at Sittlow Park. Paint was sprayed on playground equipment and the concrete pad of the pavilion.
A portable toilet at Oltman Middle School, 1020 Third St., was vandalized June 15.
Stone Soup Thrift Shop, 950 Third St., reported June 2 that the business had been burglarized. Forced entry was made through an adjacent vacant business. The shop was in disarray.
Police were called about 2 a.m. June 11 to a reported burglary at Giant Car Wash, 301 Pullman Ave. Two male suspects forced entry to the building.
A Cottage Grove man reported June 5 that a chainsaw and GPS device were stolen at 350 Hastings Ave.
A St. Paul Park woman reported June 7 that her cellphone was stolen while she was shopping at Stone Soup Thrift Shop, 950 Third St.
A St. Paul Park man reported June 7 that fishing lures, antique fishing tackle and a filet knife were stolen from his garage in the 800 block of Third Street.
A St. Paul Park man reported June 10 that tools were stolen from his home in the 800 block of Hastings Avenue.
A Grey Cloud Island Township man called police June 18 to report that copper valued at $80 was stolen from a pump house in the 8000 block of Grey Cloud Island Drive.
SuperAmerica, 545 Summit Ave., reported a $71 gas drive-off June 21.
A Woodbury man was arrested June 20 on suspicion of drunken driving, fleeing police and violating a no-contact order in St. Paul Park. Police stopped about 2 a.m. at 520 Broadway Ave., for a suspicious vehicle parked in a yard. They found a woman who was extremely intoxicated, and a man fled the scene. Woodbury police later arrested the male suspect, identified as 40-year-old Michael Schommer, for drunken driving and violating the no-contact order. He was booked into the Washington County jail and he was ticketed for fleeing on foot. The woman was transported to a Hastings detox facility.
A St. Paul Park man called police about 3:45 a.m. June 8 to report that an unknown man tried to kick in a door to his home in the 1000 block of Eighth Avenue. The suspect broke a window and stole mail before leaving, according to the report. Police found the suspect across the street. He was very intoxicated and had a cut on his hand, the report said. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
A St. Paul Park woman called police June 16 to report a male suspect’s lewd behavior toward her while she was walking her dog along Pullman Avenue. The woman said a juvenile male approached her and asked for sex, and he opened his pants while following her. The suspect was not located.
