St. Paul Park man arrested after police chase on foot
A St. Paul Park man's alleged attempt to flee police on foot did not get him very far.
Carlos A. Vasquez, 22, was apprehended on a warrant for robbery following a traffic stop late Thursday at Broadway Avenue and Third Street.
According to a St. Paul Park police report: An officer stopped a vehicle driven by Vasquez because police knew the man did not have a driver's license. Vasquez admitted to the officer he did not have a license, nor was there insurance on the vehicle. The officer ran Vasquez's information and learned of an outstanding Wisconsin felony warrant for robbery.
As the officer exited his car to arrest Vasquez, the suspect fled the scene on foot. The officer chased him and following a short foot pursuit, used a Taser gun on Vasquez and took him into custody.
Vasquez complained of an asthma attack while being transported to the Washington County Jail, so the officer took him to Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, where he was evaluated. Vasquez was cited for fleeing on foot, no insurance, no driver's license. He was later booked into jail for the robbery warrant.
