Spaces remain for Cottage Grove Police Department's Citizens Academy

A few spots remain for the upcoming Cottage Grove Police Department’s Citizens Academy as the application deadline approaches.

The department will accept applications through Friday, June 6, said Sgt. Gwen Martin.

The academy is open to people who live or work in Cottage Grove and want to learn more about local public safety. It includes eight sessions from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesdays from July 9-Aug. 27.

The eight-week academy is free. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live, work or own a business in Cottage Grove. A background check is required.

Applications are available on the city website or from the police department at City Hall, 12800 Ravine Parkway.

Academy graduates will receive a certificate of completion from the city of Cottage Grove.
