South Washington County veterans, residents observe Memorial Day

Military veterans and area residents turned out Monday to observe Memorial Day in south Washington County parks and cemeteries.

Members of the American Legion Post 98 and Voiture 33 (40/8) in St. Paul Park and the Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 visited the Grey Cloud Cemetery, the Mississippi River, Atkinson Cemetery, St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Newport Cemetery, Red Rock Cemetery, Old Cottage Grove Cemetery, Basswood Cemetery in Denmark Township and Levitt Cemetery, along with St. Paul Park's Veterans Park.

Deceased veterans names were read, "Taps" was played and a prayer was read at each stop.
