South Washington County veterans remembered on Memorial Day

South Washington County military veterans were honored during a series of short services at area cemeteries on Memorial Day.

Members of the St. Paul Park-based American Legion Post 98, Voiture 33 and the Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 visited eight cemeteries on Monday to honor fallen local veterans with an Honor Guard rifle salute and by reading their names aloud and playing Taps.

They stopped at the Mississippi River on Grey Cloud Island to lay a wreath and read the names of former local Legion members who are buried in area cemeteries and elsewhere.
