South Washington County school building improvements approved

The repairs were approved along with the Health and Safety budget and Debt Service.

No facilities are slated for mechanical replacements this year but will be on the 2014-15 slate, according to district Finance Director Aaron Bushberger, and all budgets have been approved by the Minnesota Department of Education.

All bus lanes will be painted at elementary schools and tennis court surfaces at Park and Woodbury high schools will be repaired for $125,000.
Board members also approved a $738,000 health and safety budget with regularly scheduled projects.
At various buildings, hazards will be corrected on playgrounds, personal protective equipment will be replaced and machine safety will be reviewed. Other items under the budget include science lab safety, playground inspections, asbestos and lead management and testing of personal safety equipment.
At various buildings, there will be fire alarm monitoring, annual fire alarm testing and fire marshal inspections for $183,000.
