South Washington County hit with storm: First the snow, now the cold
Winter weather is back.
Low temperatures moved in following a storm Sunday that blanketed south Washington County with the first significant snow accumulation of the season.
The Cottage Grove area received an estimated 10 to 12 inches of snow during Sunday's storm. The snowfall slowed the Monday morning commute as drivers navigated slippery side streets and slick highways.
Cottage Grove roads were cleared but some main thoroughfares remained slippery.
After the snow fell, the temperature took a dive. It was 13 degrees in Cottage Grove Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service, which forecast single-digit temperatures Monday evening before a relative warm-up of temperatures in the 20s Tuesday and low 30s Wednesday.
South Washington County Schools and other area school districts remained on their normal schedule Monday morning.
