A snowmobiler had a close call earlier this week after his machine got stuck on railroad tracks in Cottage Grove.

A police report said a Rochester man snowmobiling along Innovation Road near 3M-Cottage Grove Monday evening went up a steep embankment and landed on railroad tracks. The machine got lodged on the tracks. A train approached as the man was attempting to dislodge the snowmobile. He got the machine off of the tracks and he stepped away. The train clipped the snowmobile and dragged it about 15 feet before stopping.
