Throughout the winter, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources personnel monitor the condition of dozens of ski and snowmobile trails maintained by the agency.

Snow condition information from Minnesota's state parks, state trails and state forests is made available on the DNR Web site.

Trail conditions are updated at least once per week on Thursdays; more frequently when conditions warrant. A map of current snow depth across Minnesota, trail-by-trail description of snow conditions, trail base and grooming activity is included.

Driving and parking directions, trail maps, facilities and a landscape narrative are also available

Greg Spoden, a DNR climatologist, said "Each year, the snow depth and winter trail condition section of the DNR Web site is visited tens of thousands of times."

Trail conditions may also be found at www.mndnr.gov/skiing and www.mndnr.gov/snowmobiling.
