Sketch of Empire Township kidnapping suspect released
The Dakota County Attorney's office has released a composite sketch of the man suspected of taking a woman and her 2-year-old grandson from an Empire Township home Sept. 18.
The man, who used the woman and child in a scheme to rob an Apple Valley branch of TCF Bank, is described as approximately 28 years old, 6 feet tall and muscular with light brown hair, a receding hairline and a shaved head. He was wearing a white polo shirt and brown slacks.
The sheriff's department has said the man should be considered dangerous.
According to reports the man posed as a police officer to gain entry to the home, then handcuffed the woman, who was at her daughter's house, and drove her to Apple Valley.
The man called the woman's daughter, an employee at the TCF branch, and told her to bring money to Farmington and leave it behind Schmitz-Maki Arena. She did, and after the man retrieved the cash he dropped the woman and child off at the Farmington Kindergarten Center. T
he kindergarten center and nearby Farmington Elementary School were locked down immediately once employees learned what had happened. Farmington Middle School East and Farmington High School also had lockdowns.
