Sieben, Kriesel, McNamara all plan re-election bids in District 57
Cottage Grove Minnesota 7584 80th Street South 55016

South Washington County's state lawmakers plan to ask voters for another term this fall.

All three District 57 legislators - Sen. Katie Sieben and Reps. John Kriesel and Denny McNamara - said they intend to seek re-election in November, though it is unclear how redistricting will affect their seats. New legislative boundaries will be released Feb. 21 and the maps could change who represents Cottage Grove and surrounding communities.

"It's my plan," Sieben, DFL-Cottage Grove, said of running again. "I enjoy serving in the state Senate and I want to continue to do so."

Kriesel, a freshman Republican representing House District 57A, plans to ask voters for a second term, after he won an open seat that hadn't been held by the GOP in recent memory.

"It's important to keep our seat Republican," he said.

McNamara, R-Hastings, said he'll ask voters for a sixth term in the House. He represents House District 57B.

"I'm still excited about what I do,"he said. "I'm having fun and want to continue to make a difference."
