Police are investigating a string of vandalism on buildings and other property throughout Cottage Grove.

Numerous complaints came in within the past two weeks of graffiti, much of it sprayed with similar color and patterns, police said. It’s believed the incidents are related. Two cash awards have been offered for information.


Graffiti was found at:

-- Park High School, 8040 80th St.

-- The former Home Depot building, 7210 East Point Douglas Road.

--Crestview Elementary School, 7830 80th St.

--  The VFW Post 8752 Red Barn , 9260 East Point Douglas Road. Graffiti on building and a nearby retaining wall.

--  Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road. Graffiti on a retaining wall.

--  An underpass at 80th Street and West Point Douglas Road.

--  Electrical boxes at Keats Avenue and 82nd Street.

-- Hamlet Park, 8883 Hamlet Ave. Graffiti on an electrical box and the walking trail.

--  Oral Surgery Center, 7797 79th St. Graffiti on the building.

-- Cottage Grove Ice Arena, 8020 80th St.

VFW Post 8752 is offering a $250 reward for information about the person or persons responsible for the graffiti found on the Red Barn. Anyone with information is asked to call the VFW at 651-459-9940.

The Cottage Grove Crime Prevention Board also is offering a $250 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of people responsible for the vandalism. For more information, call the Cottage Grove Police Department at 458-2850 or the tip line at 458-2801.
