Police: Man robbed at knifepoint in Newport after agreeing to meet for sex
Police say a man was robbed at knifepoint early Thursday after he went to a secluded area of Newport to meet another male for sex.
Police were called at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday to the 2200 block of Larry Lane, where a man told officers he had been robbed at knifepoint.
The man said he had been talking to another male over the computer and they agreed to meet in the area to have sex, according to police. That area is near the Bailey School Forest.
When the man arrived, two white males got into his car and threatened him with a knife. The victim turned over cash and then the two suspects ran away.
Police set up a perimeter and used a K9 dog to try to find the suspects, but they were not located.
The victim was not injured.
The incident was under investigation. Police did not release further information.
