Philip L. Bromen, age 65, of Newport, on July 15.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne; children Peggy Schwartz, Patty Lundell (Dan K.), Bryan Bromen, and Angie Bromen; grandchildren Kirsten and Kasha Lundell and Austin and Shelby Schwartz; siblings Alice Stern (and Ed), Ernie (Hella) Bromen, Everett Bromen, Joyce (Gil) Odegard, Kenny (Joann) Bromen; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Helena Bromen; siblings, Virgil, Dennis, Judy Evenson, Harvey, one infant sister; and in-laws Alquin Stern and Traudl Bromen.

He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, and uncle. Philip loved camping, gardening and spending time at "The Ponderosa." He totally enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren, teaching and teasing them any way he could. He was an inspiration in guiding his family in the right direction. Philip took pride in his 40 years as a mechanic and loved to work on many projects.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, and memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 19, all at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park, 651-459-2875. There will be a luncheon following the memorial service at the Legion, 328 Broadway Ave., St. Paul Park.
