Gov. Mark Dayton singled out Park High School Principal Efe Agbamu for recognition during his first State of the State speech.

Agbamu was invited by Dayton to attend the speech at the Minnesota Capitol after she last month was named the state's secondary principal of the year.

Dayton pointed out five education leaders in the audience of the House chamber, including Agbamu.

"She is recognized for her 'ability to achieve academic and community goals, for improving teaching and learning and encouraging a positive school environment for staff and students,'" Dayton said during his speech.

Agbamu, in her four years at Park in Cottage Grove, will compete later this year for a national principal of the year award.
