Park volleyball: Wolfpack falls to Hastings in season finale, nets 10th seed in section

Park volleyball: Wolfpack falls to Hastings in season finale, nets 10th seed in section

The Park volleyball team lost its regular-season finale 3-0 to Suburban East Conference foe Hastings on the road on Oct. 15. Hastings (8-16; 3-6 SEC) topped the Wolfpack 25-23, 25-9, 25-13 in the three-set match. Individual statistics were not made available.

Park, which finished 10-11 overall, improved its record this season for the third year in a row. The Wolfpack went from 2-20 overall in 2011 and 6-18 in 2012. Park, however, was unable to win a Suburban East Conference match for the fifth straight year, going 0-9. The Wolfpack will carry a 45-game losing streak in the SEC into next season. Park’s last conference win was on Oct. 14, 2008, when the Wolfpack beat Mounds View 3-0.

Park was dealt the 10th seed in the 12-team Section 3AAA playoff tournament. The Wolfpack takes on seventh-seed Bloomington Kennedy (6-19) on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Bloomington. The winner earns a date with Eagan in Eagan on Thursday. The Wildcats (24-2) are the No. 2 seed, but the top rated team in the state in the most recent QRF poll and second in the latest coaches poll. Lakeville North (24-4) earned the No. 1 seed and is ranked eighth in the QRF and third by the coaches.
