Park senior Tyler Gelbmann ended his high school diving career at the Class AA swimming and diving meet, held Thursday, March 3, to Saturday, March 5, at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Gelbmann, the lone representative from the Wolfpack boys swimming and diving team in the state meet, scored a 90.20 in the in the preliminary round, but didn't qualify for the semifinals -- which were reserved for the top 20 divers. Gelbmann's score put him in 30th place out of 32 divers at state.
It was Gelbmann's second-straight state meet appearance.
Last year, as a junior, Gelbmann scored 110.30 in the state Class AA preliminary round, but didn't qualify for the semifinals, taking 30th place out of 32 divers at state.
Gelbmann earned his first trip to state's highest stage after finishing in fourth place overall with a score of 262.65 at the Section 4AA meet, held Thursday, Feb. 24, to Saturday, Feb. 26, at Stillwater Junior High School.
Stillwater sophomore Liam Gibb won the Section 4AA diving title with a 347.70 total score and finished ninth in the state prelims with a 258.15 score.
