Park hammers Prescott in third place game
SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. - Park's girls basketball team handed Prescott one of its worst defeats in seven years by a 68-20 margin Wednesday in the thirds place game of the South St. Paul Tournament.
A 44-11 first half blitz by the Wolfpack foreshadowed the eventual outcome. It didn't help Prescott's cause to have two starters, Georgia Bowen and Mary Kate Pryor out with injuries although Park had two injured players out of the ballgame as well thanks to very physical play.
PHS couldn't handle Park's ball pressure on the perimeter and it led to steals for easy lay-ups at the other end.
Larissa Lurken scored 21 points to lead Park in scoring and Sydney Lamberty finished with 11 points. Cassie Murphy led Prescott in scoring.
Park improves to 5-2 overall while Prescott drops to 4-4 overall. The Cards were beaten by South St. Paul Tuesday 51-39.
