Park girls soccer: Wolfpack’s goals allowed, win streak come to an end
The Park girls soccer team saw its nine-game winning streak to start the season come to an end with a 4-2 loss at Mounds View last Tuesday, then dropped a second-straight Suburban East Conference game, 1-0, at White Bear Lake (3-5-1; 3-2 SEC) two days later.
The two goals allowed to Mounds View were the first the Wolfpack had allowed this season. Prior to the losses, Park (9-2; 3-2 SEC) had outscored its opponents 21-0 and was up to eighth in the most recent Class AA Minnesota State High School Coaches Association poll.
Park senior Temi Ogunrinde kept up her recent scoring barrage against Mounds View with one goal. Ogunrinde now has nine goals on the year, a team high. Haley Mead had the Wolfpack’s other goal in the loss — her third of the season — and Emily Lange made six saves in goal.
Rachel Boyer, who leads the metro in goals with 19 and points with 46, scored three goals for Mounds View (10-0; 5-0 SEC) in the win.
Park played host to Cretin-Derham Hall (5-4; 2-0 SEC) on Tuesday after the Bulletin went to print. Next, the Wolfpack is at Hastings (4-7; 1-1 SEC) on Thursday.
