Park girls hockey: Wolfpack end regular season, draw 7th seed

The Park girls hockey team will open the Section 3AA Tournament with Eastview Feb. 5. The No. 7-seeded Wolfpack (4-19-2, 2-14-2 Suburban East Conference) have lost three straight at the end of the regular season after the Jan. 23 win over Woodbury. No. 2-seeded Eastview (15-9-1, 8-7-1 South Suburban) has been up and down going 3-3 in their last six games. They will face off at the Apple Valley Sports Arena at 7 p.m. The winner will play either Hastings or Apple Valley at the VMCC on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Burnsville is the section’s No. 1 seed.

The Wolfpack will be coming off one of their better scoring outputs of the season despite a 7-4 loss to second-place Cretin-Derham Hall Feb. 1.

Maria Houle had two goals for the Wolfpack, and Maddy Jeske and Paige Hill each scored goals. Dani Perry, Emma Waller and Mariah Troje all assisted on the goals. Paige Press had 40 saves in goal for the Wolfpack with an .851 save percentage.

The Wolfpack bounced back in the scoring department after being shut out 4-0 at Forest Lake Jan. 30. Press had 31 saves and .886 for a save percentage in the loss. She finished the regular season with a 3-16-2 mark and a save percentage of .922 along with 2.86 goals allowed per game.

Houle finished the regular season as the team’s leading offensive player statistically with 14 points. Jeske had 10 for second on the team.
