Park girls hockey: Tate makes famed 'Let's Play Hockey' call at Wild game

Park senior Caitlin Tate made the famed "Let's Play Hockey" call prior to the opening face off of the Minnesota Wild's game against the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday, March 27, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Tate, Park's starting goalie this past season, was born without her right hand.

Tate, 18, lacks a hand below her right wrist, but uses a goalie glove with a built in prostheses, built for her at St. Paul's Shriners Hospital. Tate began playing hockey when she was 8 years old. She played forward for one year before switching to goalie -- the position her older brother Dan, a 2006 Park graduate, also played. Caitlin's other brother Alex, a 2008 Park grad, also played hockey.

After she graduates this spring, Tate said she is going to fulfill a lifelong dream by moving to California and trying to break into the acting world.

The Wild also produced a video feature on Tate this past January.
