Park girls basketball: Wolfpack’s upset of No. 4 White Bear Lake falls short
Cottage Grove Minnesota 7584 80th Street South 55016

Though it gave No. 4-ranked White Bear Lake one of their best tests of the season, the Park girls basketball team finds itself in the midst of its first losing streak of the year.

On the heels of a 4-point Suburban East Conference loss to Roseville, Park - ranked ninth in Class AAA - fell 53-49 at White Bear Lake on Thursday, Feb. 6. The Wolfpack (13-6; 9-3 SEC) then were upset 45-42 by Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul on Friday, Feb. 7.

In the loss to White Bear Lake, Park outscored the Bears 33-29 in the second half, but a 5-point halftime deficit was too much to overcome. Niki Daul led the Bears (19-1; 11-1 SEC) with 13 points.

Park senior Sydney Lamberty scored a game-high 25 points in the loss. Fellow senior Temi Ogunrinde chipped in seven points.

Against Cretin-Derham Hall, Park led 24-22 at the half, but was outscored 23-18 in the second half to let the win slip away.

Lamberty had 13 points and Annie Williams scored seven points in the loss. Jordyn Alt led the Raiders (11-9; 6-6 SEC) with 13 points.

Park tried to get back into the win column against White Bear Lake on Tuesday in Cottage Grove, after the Bulletin went to print. Next, the Wolfpack takes on Mounds View (7-12; 2-10 SEC) at Park High School on Friday.
