The Park boys swimming and diving team won its second Suburban East Conference meet of the season when it took down White Bear Lake 102-84 on Feb. 7 at Cottage Grove Middle School.


Park took first place in nine of the meet's 12 events, including taking first, second and third place in the 500-yard freestyle.

In the 500 free, Park outscored White Bear Lake 13-3. Park sophomore Adam Raymond won the event with a time of 5 minutes, 7.71 seconds. Park senior Matt Henry (5:15.48) and eighth-grader Mack Christianson (5:25.10) were second and third, respectively.

Raymond also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.94. Henry was third in the 200 free (1:55.69) and Christianson was fourth (2:05.65).

Park senior Michele Pau touched the wall first in two events. He won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.74. Pau also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.32. Park senior Nick Popowitz was second (1:05.76) in the 100 back.

Jarrett Mansergh also won a pair of events. The sophomore earned first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.25 and won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.66.

Park freshman Aaron Lewis won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.85 and took second in the 50 free (25.38). Popowitz (57.79) took third and Sean Gill (58.19) took fourth in the 100 free as well.

Park sophomore Nicholas Germscheid and junior Kevin Roettger went 1-2 in the diving competition. Germscheid took the top spot with a score of 205.55. Roettger was runner-up with 187.25 score.

Pau, Henry, Lewis and Raymond won the 400-yard free relay with a time of 3:32.77 to close out the meet on a high note.

Next, Park competes in the Section 4AA championship meet Feb. 21-23 at Stillwater Junior High School. The prelims will be at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 21. Diving is at 6:10 p.m. Feb. 22 and the finals are at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23.
