Park boys soccer: Wolfpack beat Roseville, claim playoff’s fifth seed

The Park boys soccer team beat Roseville 2-0 and fell to Stillwater 3-0 in two Suburban East Conference games, capping the regular season and earning the fifth seed in the Section 3AA tournament.

In its final home game of 2013, Park topped Roseville 2-0 behind two goals by senior Zach Olson. Senior Arik Kruzeski and junior Noah Ijomah both registered assists. Senior goalie Nick Perry made seven saves for the shut out win over the Raiders (9-4-3; 6-2-1 SEC).

The split in last week’s two games put Park at 5-9-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the SEC, good for sixth place in the league standings.

With the fifth seed, Park earned a date with fourth-seeded Rosemount (6-5-4; 4-3-2 South Suburban Conference) on the road on Tuesday, Oct. 8. A win there would put the Wolfpack up against either top-seeded Eagan (11-1-3; 7-0-2 SSC) or eighth-seeded Hastings (2-14; 0-9 SEC) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
