Park boys lacrosse: Wolfpack look to end losing skid
Park lost its chance for the Warrior Cup and dropped its third-straight in losing to East Ridge.
The Wolfpack fell 10-4 to the Raptors on Wednesday, May 7. The Warrior Cup, a traveling trophy between the three South Washington County public schools, had been claimed by the Raptors in a win over Woodbury on April 28.
Wolfpack defensemen struggled with East Ridge as the Suburban East Conference’s second-place squad put 20 shots on goal. Senior goalie Jeremy Scollick stopped 11 of those shots.
Nick Perry, Carter Dosmann, Brent Wallace and Zach Bezek each scored a goal. Clay Dosmann assisted on two scores, and Lauden Rinzel had an assist.
Senior midfielder Jay Climaco went 9-5 on face-offs. Gavin Foote, a freshman midfielder, split his only face-offs of the game, 1-1.
Park lost their other game of the week on Monday, May 5, to Mounds View, 10-3. The Wolfpack would have liked to skip the second quarter as the Mustangs piled on seven goals. Prior to the offensive onslaught, the Wolfpack had a 1-0 lead through the first period.
Scollick stopped 13 shots in taking 23 shots on goal overall. Rinzel led the Wolfpack offense with a goal and two assists.
Bezek posted a goal and an assist. Wallace also chipped in a goal. Climaco went 6-7 on face-offs.
Up next, the Wolfpack (4-4, 2-4 SEC) host third-place Stillwater (3-3, 3-1 SEC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Park then visit winless Hill-Murray (0-5, 0-2 Classic Suburban) at 7 p.m. Friday. The Wolfpack opened the week at Hastings on Monday.
Park will take on the Royals (2-5, 2-4 Suburban East Conference) at 7 p.m. Monday, May 19. The game won’t count for the cup since East Ridge has possession, but cross-district pride will be on the line.
