The top-seeded and top-ranked Eagles opened up a 64-22 lead at the half on the eighth-seeded Wolfpack on the way to the 58-point win.

Apple Valley (26-1) didn't need a big night from much-hyped Tyus Jones to top the Wolfpack. The highly recruited junior point guard scored 13 points and had nine assists in 16 minutes played. Five different players scored in double figures for Apple Valley. Senior Chris Laymon netted a game-high 21 points in 21 minutes, going 7-for-12 from behind the 3-point line.

Nine different players scored for the youthful Wolfpack, who didn't have a senior on the roster at the end of the year. Sophomore Jeb Melson led the way with nine points and six rebounds. In addition, sophomore Aaron Gorres scored seven points and had five rebounds and junior Ryan Klika chipped in seven points.

Apple Valley advanced to face fifth-seeded Cretin-Derham Hall (14-13) in the semifinals.

With the season coming to an end, Park will look toward next year, when its four juniors will be seniors and 13 sophomores will be juniors.

Park finished the year 3-23 overall and 1-17 in the Suburban East Conference, while snapping a 68-game conference losing streak this year with a 55-54 overtime win at Hastings back on Feb. 1.
