Park baseball: Rust shows up after the rain in Wolfpack loss

Email News Alerts

A long wait for baseball teams to return for competition in a rainy week had plenty of disadvantages.

Park’s bats struggled in their lone game of the week on Friday, May 2, in a 9-6 loss to Roseville. Brandon Alt had the best hitting performance for the Wolfpack with 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

“The rust really showed in our hitting,” Wolfpack John McGowan said.

Park stuck with the Raiders through six innings at 6-5, but the Raiders tacked on three more in the seventh to win. Sam Domeier threw four strikeouts in five innings but took the loss for the Wolfpack. The Raiders roughed Braeden Cordt’s pitching effort in the final two innings. Defensively, Park fielders made two double plays in the game.

“We’re cleaning things up defensively,” McGowan said.

A game-filled week gives the 2-7 Wolfpack a chance to get back on track. They play at Roseville at 4:15 p.m. Thursday and host White Bear Lake at 4:15 p.m. Friday. Overall, the Wolfpack have a game each week day.

“We’re going to really going to have to have a lot of pitching,” McGowan said.
