One dead after officer-involved shooting at Woodbury motel
One person was killed after an officer-involved shooting early this morning at the Red Roof Inn in Woodbury.
According to a news release, police responded at 1:10 a.m. to the motel for a 911 call. Officers located a disturbance at a room there, according to the release.
While investigating, a shot was fired and three officers returned gunfire, the release states.
One person was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. That person was pronounced dead at the hospital and taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
Just before 5 a.m., the Washington County SWAT team arrested one person. Other people from the Red Roof room were interviewed.
No police were injured the shooting incident. A SWAT officer was treated for a minor injury during the tactical operation, the release states.
The identities of the three officers involved in the shooting was withheld pending an interview with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is conducting the investigation. The officers were placed on paid administrative leave - a standard practice in police-related shootings.
No identifying information on the dead person was released.
