Recent criminal activity reported in Newport:
Protection order violation
A 30-year-old Coon Rapids man was arrested May 27 on suspicion of violating an order for protection after he was seen walking at Seventh Avenue and 12th Street with the woman he was prohibited from seeing. He was booked into the Washington County jail.
A police officer cited a South St. Paul man and a St. Paul woman for being in a city park after hours. The officer was on patrol when he found the two in the backseat of a vehicle parked at Loveland Park, 1500 Glen Road, about 1:10 a.m. May 24. They said they knew the park was closed but went there because it would be a “quiet place,” according to the report.
A Newport teen was cited May 28 for possession of a small amount of marijuana at his Second Avenue home.
