Warrant

A 26-year-old Cottage Grove man was arrested on suspicion of an outstanding warrant following a July 3 police call to SuperAmerica, 1624 Hastings Ave., for a suspicious male.

Fight

A Newport woman and a Newport man were both cited for disorderly conduct following a fight about 4 a.m. July 13 at their home in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue. The woman called police to report the fight. When police arrived, the woman showed signs of intoxication and said she blacked out so couldn’t remember most of the fight. The man said the woman started the fight. Both showed signs of being in a fight, according to the report. In addition to disorderly conduct, the woman was ticketed for underage consumption.

Suspicious male

Police were called about 12:45 p.m. July 13 to 10th Avenue on a report of a man who appeared intoxicated and was standing in the middle of the road. Police later found the man at a home in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue. The man, who appeared heavily intoxicated, said he was standing in the road to get a suntan, according to the report. Police were told the man was heavily medicated for injuries and a traumatic brain injury.

Two women told police that they were threatened by an unknown man while walking their dogs the evening of July 30 at 14th Street and Fourth Avenue. One woman said the man approached her, pulled a knife from a case and threatened her. The case was under investigation.

Break-in

A Newport woman called police July 29 to report that someone had broken into her home in the 1600 block of 10th Avenue. She arrived home to find the front door open and the jamb damaged. Nothing was reported stolen.
