Newport police reports for April 4

 Recent criminal activity reported in Newport:


SuperAmerica, 1624 Hastings Ave., reported a $50 gas drive-off March 14.

Courtesy Car Rental, 1412 Hastings Ave., reported March 14 that two spare tires and rims ($900) were stolen from vehicles overnight.

A Newport woman reported March 15 that two laptop computers, $150 cash and a popcorn machine were stolen from her home in the 1000 block of 10th Avenue.

A 35-year-old St. Paul man and a 33-year-old man, who doesn’t have a permanent address, were arrested by St. Paul police on suspicion of motor vehicle theft following a March 17 report by a St. Paul woman that her vehicle was stolen while it was left running and unlocked outside Dogs at Play, 1716 Hastings Ave., in Newport. The vehicle was later found in St. Paul.

SuperAmerica, 1624 Hastings Ave., reported March 20 that a man shoplifted. Police later found the 57-year-old man, who admitted to stealing a bottle of pop, a hamburger, doughnuts and candy eggs from the store.
