Hundreds turned out for the Newport Volunteer Fire Department's 61st-annual booya celebration Sunday at Fire Station 1 in Newport.

The 61st-annual event also included raffles, bingo, a beer tent and games for children and adults. The department made between 360 and 375 gallons of booya. A long line of people holding soup kettles, pots, plastic buckets and coolers waited to get to-go servings.
