After an 0-10 start to the season, a playoff win seemed all but a pipedream for the New Life Academy girls basketball season, however, the No. 7 seeded Eagles were able to fight their way to an even 13-13 record before knocking off St. Paul Academy-Summit 62-41 on Thursday evening at home to give New Life a win in the sectional tournament.

Four of the Eagles players scored in double digits Thursday evening, led by the team's leading scorer sophomore Valerie Hohol, who scored 20. Junior Emily Bolduan and sophomore Sydney Steele each scored 12 while Kara Stenerson scored 11. Hohol also recorded a double-double - her 12th of the season - hauling down 10 rebounds, while junior Molly Saum got nine boards.

The Eagles lost their next game on Saturday to No. 2 seeded Minnehaha Academy, ending their 2012-13 season.

The Redhawks jumped out in front of the Eagles and never looked back, taking a 15-33 halftime lead and kept the pressure on during the second half, cruising to a 32-60 final over New Life.

Hohol and Bolduan would each share the lead for top scorer for the Eagles with nine points. Junior Natalie Hager scored seven and the Steele sisters, Sydney and senior Matty, had three points each.

Hohol led the Eagles with 14.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds throughout the season. Sydney Steele led the team with 3.5 assists per game and 2 steals per game.
