With only one game remaining in the regular season, the New Life Academy bettered its record to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference as it rolled over Brooklyn Center 41-6.

The Eagles amassed 346 yards of total offense in the win with senior captain Matt Michaud carrying the ball 12 times for 127 yards. He also scored two touchdowns. In addition, Cameron Mehls scored three touchdowns - on runs of 9 and 11 yards - and returned a fumble 31 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

NLA jumped on Brooklyn Center early and often. The Eagles built a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and by halftime NLA was leading 35-0. This allowed the junior varsity players to get into the game and record some varsity minutes.

Seth Rice, the second-string quarterback, had a great passing game in the second half, head coach Paul Mork said, as the Brooklyn Center defense played more against the run by stacking eight - and sometimes nine - players in the box.

The play of the night for the Eagles was an interception and 25 yard return by junior defensive lineman Jacob Salkowicz. The two-way starter who plays tackle on offense was pursuing Brooklyn Center's quarterback and was able to snatch the ball on his own deflection and rumble to the Brooklyn Center 23 yard line.

Next up for the Eagles is at Concordia Academy in Roseville on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. It is their last game before the 4AAAA playoffs begin.
